FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK TONIGHT
The monthly
Art Walk is a great way to network, relax,
and enjoy the arts. Go to
this web page for
complete information including a map and
list of galleries and studios that are open
tonight, June 4th.
The Artist
Colony of Zanesville and the Zanesville
Downtown Association hold an art walk
downtown on the first Friday of each month,
and it is the perfect networking opportunity
for chamber member businesses. Its fun, its
casual, the artwork is first class, and the
large turnout makes it a great place to
interact with others and promote your
business.
You can start the evening at the gallery or
venue of your choice, and make your way
around town at your own pace. There are of
course a variety of antique stores,
restaurants, and other businesses open, too,
and the monthly entertainment line up
includes adult comedy and music. There is
also a shuttle bus courtesy of Zandex if you
get tired of walking.
Again, this is a great networking
opportunity, and we are encouraging members
that are seeking more chances to network to
attend. |
GUS MACKER THIS WEEKEND
Stop by
downtown Zanesville this weekend and
watch some basketball at the annual Gus
Macker Basketball Tournament. The
tournament is a major community event
with over 2,000 players and thousands
more fans, and it is a fundraiser for
the ZDA and other community
organizations.

HOT DEALS SAVE YOU MONEY, MAKE
YOU MONEY
HOT DEALS is a web based
promotional benefit designed to provide
members with an opportunity to post special
offers, sales or promotions on a designated
area of our website, www. zmchamber.com.
FOR FREE!
What a great way to get your name, your
products and your services in front of
potential new customers! You can promote
both products and services through a HOT
DEALS listing. Your offer, as well as any
restrictions, is completely up to you, but
we do ask that it be some sort of
advantage, benefit or discount that is not
available to the general public, and we ask
that it be more than simply an advertisement
(we have other advertising avenues you can
use for that).
To see what HOT DEALS are available to you
as a Chamber member, go to
www.zmchamber.com
and click the HOT DEALS FOR MEMBERS item
located under the Membership menu.
To enter your
own HOT DEALS offering, you will use the
same member login and password that was
provided to you to upload your company
information for the enhanced member
information page (send an email to
jriddle@zmchamber.com if you need this
information again). Here are the steps:
1. Go
online to
www.chamberlogin.com
2.
Enter your login name and password. (If you
need this, we can provide it.
Please contact
jriddle@zmchamber.com)
3.
Click Hot Deals in the left-hand menu.
4.
Click Add a Hot Deal.
5.
Complete the fields in the Add a New
Hot Deal screen.
6.
Click Submit for Approval. (Again, this
program is for special discounts for members
to offer each other)
Upon approval,
your Hot Deal will appear multiple places on
zmchamber.com:
·
next to your
name in the Business Directory
·
on your Member
Information Page
·
and by
category in a special listing of all Hot
Deals
If you have
any questions or need assistance, email
dmatz@zmchamber.com, jriddle@zmchamber.com,
or tpoorman@zmchamber.com. |
SPECIAL TAX INCENTIVES FOR SMALL
BUSINESSES
Jane Evans of JK Evans & Associates supplied
this information on new tax breaks for small
businesses that hire new workers.
A variety of business
tax deductions and credits were created,
extended and expanded by the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA),
this year's Hiring Incentives to Restore
Employment (HIRE)
Act and the
Affordable Care Act.
Because some of these changes are only
available this year, eligible businesses
only have a few months to take action and
save on their taxes.
Employers who hire unemployed workers this
year (after Feb. 3, 2010, and before Jan. 1,
2011) may qualify for a 6.2-percent payroll
tax incentive, in effect exempting them from
the employer's share of Social Security tax
on wages paid to these workers after March
18. In addition, for each qualified employee
retained for at least a year whose wages did
not significantly decrease in the second
half of the year, businesses may claim a new
hire retention credit of up to $1,000 per
worker on their income tax return.
The work opportunity tax credit (WOTC)
offers tax savings to businesses that hire
employees belonging to various targeted
groups. These groups include people ages 18
to 39 living in designated communities in 43
states and the District of Columbia,
recipients of various types of public
assistance, certain veterans, ex-felons and
certain youth workers. The
instructions for Form 8850
detail the requirements for each of these
groups.

www.irs.gov.
