"Marketing Month" Coming in October
Three great seminars will be presented during what we are calling "Marketing Month", and the lead off program will be a unique seminar on how to more effectively market to women customers called "Marketing to 'Mom' in the New Economy". National level marketing experts will share information on how to attract and serve this important demographic. (More details are provided at the end of this newsletter) This seminar is sponsored by Wal Mart, and it will be presented on October 7 from 8 to 10 am. We are also offering a leading edge program on how to differentiate your business from the competition, called "The Key to Business Survival: Making Your Competition Irrelevant". This approach can help you set your business apart and create opportunities for real growth. The presenter will be Larry Triplett, President of Resource Systems in New Concord and chairman of the Chamber's board of directors. The date for this seminar is October 14 from 9 to 11 am. Using the web in your business, especially social networking techniques, will be the topic of a seminar - "How to Use the Internet and Social Media to Grow Your Business" - sponsored by Tech Growth Ohio and the Muskingum University MISST Program. Mary Kaufman of MISST and Sharon Delay of Boldly Go Coaching will be the presenters on October 19 from 9 to 12 noon. All of the programs will be held in the auditorium at the John McIntire Library. Mark your calendars now and watch for more details on "Marketing Month" at the Chamber.

Did

When

they

this,

Marketing to
"Mom" in the New
Economy
A seminar about
how to reach the
largest customer
demographic in
the nation
Sponsored by Wal
Mart

John McIntire
Library
Auditorium
Price: To be
announced, but
it will be in
the $50 to $100
range

Women account
for 85% of all
consumer
purchases. So
how do we reach
these women,
what are they
shopping for and
what is
important to
them? How do we
stay relevant
from one day to
the next -
especially in
retail? And
especially in
these uncertain
economic times
where things are
changing so
fast. The key is
having a
constant
dialogue with
them. Over the
past two years,
we've stayed in
constant
conversation
with Wal Mart
moms and have
come to
understand them
better than
almost anyone.
And we continue
to fine tune how
we communicate
with women and,
of course, moms.
In this
presentation
we'll discuss
the "New Mom"
and help others
understand how
to have a
meaningful
conversation
with a
demographic that
is more
multifaceted
than ever - more
multigenerational,
more
multicultural
and more varied
in life and work
experience.
And we've all
heard that
women's
behaviors change
with recession,
but what about
when consumer
confidence
starts rising?
We'll examine
the
abstain-and-splurge
purchasing
cycles, the
balance between
rational and
emotional
decision-making,
and the
underlying
emotions that
drive them. The
insights are key
to marketers
striving to move
their businesses
forward in hard
and changing
times.
