T8 lighting, digital thermostats,
I only use half the lights in my office.
Does turning off the lights when nobody is in the store and turning air cond. up and heat down count?  That is what I do.
We have replaced all of our warehouse and office lights to energy efficient florescent tubes, and occupancy sensors in the warehouse and some office spaces.  Capacitors on the main feed eliminated the "penalty" from AEP for dirty power. Payback is two years with federal tax credits that paid for the cost of the lighting fixtures thoughtout. Supplier has reduced the need for low temp refrigeration during part of the year, saving us additional $$$$.

We changed all bulbs to cfl or t8 fixtures in our entire company saving about 500.00 per month company wide.  We also changed all thermostats to digital/programable and started saving around 250.00 per building per month.  We also instituted a maintenance program that clean all coils and replaces filters quarterly on all HVAC and refrigeration units.
Offices here at The Frazeysburg Community Center and Business Complex have electricity/heat/water included with the rent so I don't see the impact I'm making.
Optimized oxidizer to reduce natural gas consumption by half, saving about $60,000 per year.

5.  Have you implemented any other energy and cost saving steps that other businesses could benefit from knowing about?   - Responses
  Answer
We use a gas marketer and locked in a rate for 12 months for natural gas.  It will save over 3500.00 per building per year.

Evaluating re-lamping of our building, primarily to replace the metal halide high intensity discharge (HID) lamps with fluorescent lamps.  The paybacks are quite good.
Not at this time.
No  Can't
If one doesn't take advantage of energy saving lighting and the accompanying energy savings PLUS the tax credits, one is leaving a great deal of money on the table.  American Light  (Zanesville-John Stubbs)was instrumental in assisting us with the project.  They were great!
