1. Do you like and support the President's proposal to offer a $5,000 tax credit per hire to businesses that create net new jobs? - Comments Answer WE CAN AFFORD TO HIRE MORE EMPLOYEES. THE $5,000.00 WILL GO AWAY WITH THE FIRST 10-15 PAYCHECKS, THEN WHAT, LAY THE PERSON OFF BECAUSE WE STILL CANT AFFORD TO KEEP THEM??? Its ridiculous. Lower the burden of taxes & regulation then we can hire. He's an idiot. The only business he has ever owned is the shoe shine service outside Tony Rezko's cash laundramat. What's the point of a $5,000.00 credit when employers can't afford to hire anyone.....oh, Im see.....to pay for 6 months of health insurance. Good idea !! But we have to call back laid off workers first and that may take awhile. This is one of those too good to be true---in order to offer something that is going to cost the government even more of a loss there has to be strings attached. Would have to know the who picture before biting on it. Give me a break, how they gonna track this and who will end up paying for this in the end? Don't get me wrong, I definitely think it's time that the government decided to help the small business owners, but a tax credit may not be enough for many small businesses. Ohio unemployment is at 10.6%. I have not seen figures to know if this latest government idea is going to help or harm the economy. If new jobs are created will their be new taxes placed on small business the would eliminate the tax credit? I do not trust the current administration. a need to hire additional employees must be created before any business has to hire new employees - in other words if the economy is not supporting growth, then businesses have no need for new hires - the policy is at best a hollow offer. The statement sounds good but what are the details. How does it get administered. What if you add 100 jobs and don't have 500000 tax liability etc. waste of taxpayer money You must have the work first! Cannot hire people just to get a tax credit. The cost of adding one employee costs far more that $5000. Because businesses will hire as they need to no matter what. The $5,000 will only pay for the hiring aspect how about maintaining those positions. After awhile the position has no support and the business will lay off. A new employee would cost me between $25,000 & $50,000 yearly. Unsure of other regulations coming down the government pipe line that will effect our business. Get government out of the way & let business do business At least he is attempting to do something Tax credit simply means we the consumer will end up paying it all back and then some at the end of the year. A one time "pop" is not the answer...especially since he wants to turn around and mandate a tax for "free" health insurance. The govt needs to lower taxes, long term, and these savings will enable us to hire additional personnel. IT MIGHT HELP IF THERE ARE NO STRINGS ATTACHED AND IF HE WOULD DO IT. It will cost me more then $5000 to hire a new employee. We provide health insurance, so that will go up, what about increased payroll tax, workers comp fees and my unemployment tax? just to mention a few? I don't support ANYTHING this president does. He needs to quit "redistributing the wealth" and let each person keep more of their hard-earned dollars and that includes "the rich". Poor people do not sign paychecks. Regardless of what the proposal is the future is to cloudy to determine if the cost of hiring someone would cost more in benefits than the $5,000. But there is always a catch and with the health insurance issues before us I can see him having a way to get it back before it's spent. I oppose any pre-conditions on tax cuts. It implies that the tax money belongs to the government in the first place, when in reality, this is borrowed money, at best. If he wants to help, cut corporate taxes, capital gains taxes, and stop helping his allies in big-labor drive jobs overseas. 2. Would YOUR business use this program and hire new workers if this proposal were approved? - Comments Answer Respondent ONLY IF WE HAD THE ROOM TO HIRE BUT I DONT SEE THAT HAPPENING No workers left to hire. The federal government has hired them all. Possibly. Right now things are slow due to the economy--we don't need any more overhead. Lucky to keep those working that we have. We would actually need work to hire. This proposal would do nothing to solve that problem. It won't help us but probably would help some companies. $5,000 wouldn't pay an employee very long at the present minimum wage rate. I agree with the business owners in the article who felt that a tax credit isn't the best way to go about helping employers hire employees. What businesses need now is cash. It's scary to hire right now not knowing if the economic growth will continue. Plus many are cash poor from taking a beating last year. Give us the money up front to hire people and we will do it. It would not cause us to create new positions but it may help us do it sooner. The economy is not showing any signs of improvement in the next tweleve months. Why will small business hire more workers in a slow economy? All segments of the economy are down, sales and profits are shrinking and the people in Washington think that $5,000 is an incentive to hire more people. Small business has to make payroll, pay taxes and make a profit or go out of business. Government prints more money and says Oh Well... see number one above We would definitely hire more persons if economy improves due to less unemployement as our sales would increase why would i hire new employee if it is going to cost me 30 to35 thousand a year to get a 5000.00 dollar break makes no sense No. My company is still too small afford the expense of additional help. Value is not there. but would not create new job unless there was a way to sustain the position I would hire people when the sales increase to justify employee increases. Our sales are down 9.3% year over year, when sales start improving and profits improve will hire people when justified. We are a non-profit and not sure how the rule applies to us. I would use it if we could At this time our business is not in need of hiring additional staff. Hiring an additional member just to take advantage of the Tax Credit would be counter productive. I am sure however that it would benefit the labor market as a whole. Likely make it a little easier to add 1 new ft employee over the next year. $5000 doen not begin to cover the cost with hiring a new employee WE MIGHT HIRE ONE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME HELP SO I COULD GIVE MY EMPLOYEE THAT I HAVE, MORE HOURS. If I need more people I may hire but it won't be because of the tax break! I have struggled in my retail business for 10 years. I haven't hired anyone yet. I do this all alone. We are a Local Gov't in which the money is drying up do to the Federal Gov't wanting to do Small (Local) Gov't business. we have already hired for this year and would welcome the tax help I need to hire a new employee anyway, so I doubt if I can hold out as long as it will take to have the proposal approved. We would only hire employees if there was a legitimate business need. To do anything else would be idiotic. Just another reason why this typical liberal program will fail, and/or otherwise be misused. 3. If you answered yes to the question above, how many new hires do you think you would make? - Other responses Answer unsure 0 zero until the economic conditions require new hires it would depend on the need none 3. If you answered yes to the question above, how many new hires do you think you would make? - Comments Answer read my lips !! 4. What other suggestions do you have (that we can pass on to federal officials) for stimulus programs that would jump start the economy, help you stay competitive, create jobs, or grow your business? - Responses Answer INSTEAD OF BAILING OUT BANKS AND AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES AND BIG BUSINESS IN GENERAL. TAKE THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND PUT IN THE POCKETS OF GOOD FAITH TAX PAYING HOUSEHOLDS. SAY $100,000.00 PER HOUSEHOLD. SEE IF THAT DOESNT STIMULATE THE ECONOMY PLUS HELP THE MORTGAGE CRISIS. NEXT TAX THE HECK OUT OF ITEMS MADE OVERSEAS AND SHIPPED HERE. Lower corporate tax rates
Lower individual tax rates
Cut capital gains tax
Get rid of death taxact like a responsible adult and pay the dang debt increase investment tax credits for capital expenditures Suggestion to offer no or low interest loans to businesses. Provide low cost health care options to small businesses. Our problem is the general climate in our sector which results in winning bids that are well below our cost. We simply cannot compete in that market. The only suggestion I would have for our federal officials is make it easier for small businesses, not harder. Less taxes/ regulations and finally get some common sense about health care reform. Simplify the income tax code, balance the federal budget with a reduction in spending, Tort reform to help reduce the cost of all insurance, outlaw the ability of congress to add pet projects to spending bills, give the president line item veto. Keep bonus dep.Fix workers comp. 1. Deport all Muslums that came into our country since 9/11/03 and all illegals. 2. Build new bridges and highways that can handle heavier and longer truck loads so we can compete with other countries. 3. Legalize prostitution and marijuana and tax both. 4. Let Walmart run healthcare. Drop Pelosi, Reid, Biden, and Obama off in Antartica. I would like to see up front assistance for employers to hire employees. If the government would give me the money to at least pay half of an employees salary for six months, I'd hire someone tomorrow. low interest loans to help through slow time--as well ac construction loans--get banks to lower rates etc Reduce taxes for small business so they can create jobs. A tax credit is nice but reducing taxes gets the same effect.
Also, reduce regulations on businesses so they can operate in a free environment. This will create an environment in which nothing is artificially propped up so businesses can compete upon the value they bring to the consumer.Get rid of Federal Deficit so our country will prosper. Eliminate all forms of taxation, federal, state, county. Not one tax existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. suggestion to pass a meaningful job creation incentive - this is more like the tail wagging the dog We need tax relief on all fronts. Payroll, real estate, commercial activity, usage, etc. If our elected officials actually took the pains to understand just how much of our revenue goes to either direct or indirect taxation they would be amazed. In fact I think a study by the chamber might be helpful to address this issue. ease the employer taxes so my employees can keep more of their paycheck to spend to stimulate economy Stop the spending, Stop increasing taxes. Stop starting a new program for every problem. Can the people in Washington solve anything without spending more or expanding the Government, or the number of Government employees? Business does this every day. Less government! Cut taxes on small businesses. Help small businesses obtain bank loans for working capital. Leave health care reform as it is with some modifications. Allow insurance companies to market in all 50 states. Find a solution to the "uninsurable" due to previous conditions to spread the risk. Forget cap and trade. This administration is out to lunch LESS EMPLOYER TAXES Reduce the governemnt debt. Taxes are going to increase because of the government wasteful spending. With increased taxes businesses along with individual tax payer will have to pay more taxes and won't be able to increase employment. More assitance at the local levlel with getting federal, state and private contracts or sub contracts to put the developmentally disabled to work. if I had more work I would need to hire more non handicapped workers to complete it and insure quality Dont keep increasing and extending the unemployment benefits, this process is keeping many able bodied workers on the sidelines, instead of actively looking to get back to work Lower taxes!!!! Cut waste in Washington!!! We need a lower payroll tax on the employers side. we need more job creation on the small level for emplyer with 2 to 10 employees. The creation of sewer lines and highway repairs are good but it is helping the companies with 25 or more employees. If that tax credit (or a reduced amount) could be used to raise current employees salaries or improve their benefits to retain employees, it might be helpful THE BANKS NEED TO START LENDING AGAIN. WE HAVE TRIED TO SELL OUR BUSINESS AND NO ONE CAN GET A BUSINESS LOAN APPROVED.. NO more taxes!!!!!! Reduce and keep current tax levels. If I have money to spend i can grow my business without the goverments help!! They need to stay out of my business! Give us all a big tax break. Including big companies. Quit robbing the rich and giving to the poor. You can't have any incentive to work if the gov. decides who gets your money. This is not a socialist country. They need to read the Constitution. No more stimulus. It was a huge failure. Trillions of dollars in debt. What a waste. Invest in the training and/or education of individuals instead of pet or earmarked government programs. This will make those that obtain the training or education desirable to companies that are hiring or on the borderline of hiring. First, stop burdening businesses with new (and hidden) taxes. Also, why do they keep changing the tax forms? Why don't they just leave them alone so we don't have to spend so much time deciphering them. Low interest rates have positive impact on business. This is better than a tax credit. Even businesses that are not profitable benefit from the lower cost.
Demand for goods and services creates jobs. if businesses don't hire to satisfy increased demand for their product or service their competitors will.CUT TAXES It's too late now, they already gave the stimulas money to big bankers and the automotive industry. The total package should have been given out to taxpayers, so they could pay off THEIR debts. This program is not going to create any jobs. It is a benefit to those of us that need to hire. It is not an icentive, as the reward is much too small compared to the cost of hiring a new employee. Cut taxes for businesses with no pre-conditions and stop trying to pass health care reform which would put yet another tax burden on American business.
